Radio Grimbald Episode 7: The Crimson Stair

So I’ve had a bit of a rough weekend, but nevertheless I bring you another episode! This week I’m reading the second story in The Adventures of Bouragner Felpz series: The Crimson Stair. As always you can purchase the eBook over here, and find more Felpz stories over here. To get an idea of why my weekend was so rough, keep an eye on my blog, here.

And finally, you can listen to the podcast RIGHT HERE:

Radio Grimbald Episode 6: The Purple Gentleman

Radio Grimbald is back for a second season folks! I’m doing something a little different this time around: I’m still reading short stories, but now these will all be part of an on-going series: The Adventures of Bouragner Felpz. Even though each story is a stand-alone, I highly recommend listening to them in the order they are released—at the very least, listen to the first episode first, and the last episode last. You can keep track of the entire series over on GoldeenOgawa.com.

This week I’m reading the first Bouragner Felpz short story, The Purple Gentleman, which as always is available as an eBook from such reputable sources as Amazon, B&N, and iTunes. I hope you enjoy it, and I’ll be back next week with the second installment, The Crimson Stair.

Season 2: Delayed a Week

It is with some regret that I am pushing back the premier of Season 2 by one week, as I find I need more time to get my ducks in order. Therefore The Purple Gentleman will be coming to you on the 24th rather than the 17th, but the series will continue in an orderly fashion from there.

I want to thank everyone who’s contacted me about the podcast; your positive feedback has been greatly appreciated! Though it seems most of you are a little confused at the inability to post comments here. Let me explain this: in my experience with open comments on a personal blog, you can get two types (mostly): close personal friends who leave kind, personal comments; and trolls. The trolls are the vast majority, sadly, and I don’t want to waste my time moderating them, nor your time reading their stupid leavings. Also, and this may seem a bit supercilious but bear with me; replying to comments takes time. So does writing and creating a podcast. And I would rather devote what time I have to the latter. By making it just a little more difficult to leave a comment (and it is not really that difficult to send an email, is it?) I ensure that only the people who are genuinely interested in the podcast will contact me. And I do not mind taking the time to answer their questions at all.

However, if you are too shy to send me a direct email, and choose instead to contact me through any of the social sites of which I am a member, that is also fine.

I am considering, for this next season of Radio Grimbald, posting a corresponding journal to my deviantART account, as a lot of you probably already have accounts there, where you can comment and discuss to your hearts’ content.

And if you do not have a dA account, there is always that handy email: goldeenogawa@gmail.com

Happy New Year, everyone, and I’ll see you in a few weeks!

Radio Grimbald Episode 5: The Piper in the Dell

Happy holidays, it’s the season finale of Radio Grimbald! This week I read The Piper in the Dell, the fifth and final story in my collection Fiddler’s Dream and Other Stories. Also making guest appearances on the podcast for the very first time: the Dog; and my brother, who is kind enough to grant me an interview on the topic of his amazing musical powers. This episode features, as a special, musical extra, the F.E.X. Main Theme, composed by Evan Ogawa.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanza, Happy Solstice, etc. etc. and I will see you early in the new year with Season 2 of Radio Grimbald. Season 2 will feature stories from the first volume of the collected adventures of Bouragner Felpz, starting with The Purple Gentleman on Tuesday, January 17th.

Radio Grimbald Episode 4: The Man in the Chest

This week on Radio Grimbald: I read The Man in the Chest. A stand-alone short story, it concerns demons, and the proper treatment of such. Got this episode thrown together in the nick of time, so very little chatting. But the story is a rather long one, so it’s just as well.

  • EDIT: Serves me right for throwing it together so quickly. Original file had a small blooper. Updated file with fixed version. Carry on.

The Man in the Chest is available as an eBook from Barnes and Noble, Amazon and iTunes. Enjoy!

Radio Grimbald Episode 3: Sandals and Sword

This week on Radio Grimbald: the short story Sandals and Sword, or, what heroines in fairytales might be advised to do when trapped in unfortunate situations. This story comes complete with its own introduction, so I keep the rambling to a minimum. For those of you who want to get right to it, skip to 4:10.

Oh, and I know very well that the King in Rumplestiltskin is not always murderous—but he was in one version that I read, and I thought it reflected rather badly on the heroine that she put up with it.

Sandals and Sword is the fourth story in my collection Fiddler’s Dream and Other Stories, available as an eBook from Amazon and iTunes.

Radio Grimbald Episode 2: The Bells of Äsvi and Nobody’s Road

This week I’m reading two stories, since one of them is very short. The don’t have much in common, except that they are both spooky, and both deal with that perennial favorite or horror: vampires. Of course, since these are fantasy stories, there is more to be had than the usual vampire fare.

And, since I do a fair bit a rambling at the beginning, impatient listeners can skip right to the stories by following this guide:

6:27 – The Bells of Äsvi

19:53 – Nobody’s Road

Both The Bells of Äsvi and Nobody’s Road appear in my collection Fiddler’s Dream and Other Stories, available as an eBook from Amazon and iTunes.

Radio Grimbald Episode 1: Fiddler’s Dream

First time at anything is always awkward. Not sure what goes where and am afraid of doing something stupid that will make things not work at all. Hopefully, however, you will be able to navigate your way to the bottom of this post and find the attached podcast episode. It is the very first episode of Radio Grimbald, I hope you enjoy it.

This week I am reading my short fiction Fiddler’s Dream, which appears in my short story collection Fiddler’s Dream and Other Stories, available as an eBook from both Amazon and iTunes.
